The Master Cleanse

Basic Procedure for making the Lemonade Drink for the Master Cleanse

To make 16 oz. (one pint) of lemonade drink, mix the following In a 16 oz cup or 1 pint jar:

Make up 4 to 8 pints for consumption each day. If you do not know how much you will drink daily in the beginning, make 6 pints for the first day and adjust this quantity as experience dictates. for 4 pints

You may not have the time and circumstances to make an 8 ounce glass of the lemonade 6 to 12 times a day, so you may want to make up one or two quarts of it at a time instead. Just use 4 or 6 or 8 times the amounts given above to make your whole day's supply of lemonade.

Alternate Procedure for making Three Whole Days or more and still Preserving the Enzymes

There is a disadvantage to making more than a portion or two of lemonade at one time - that is that the enzymes in the lemon juice oxidize: they mix with the air in the container and are destroyed. Here is a procedure for preserving the enzymes in the juice. Following these simple directions you can make enough lemonade last you for about three days and keep the enzymes!. .

First you need to determine what your " liquid meal size" is - a cup (8oz) or a pint (16oz). This means how much can you comfortably drink at one time, say within five minutes. People weighing 150 lbs or less often find a cup to be their usual limit. Larger-sized people can easily drink a pint at a time.

We recommend using mason jars available from a grocery store to store your portions of lemonade (or similar-sized jars with tight lids that you have saved and washed after using their contents), because when you fill them up to the tippy top, screw down the top so there is no air to speak of inside, and place in a refrigerator, the contents and its enzymes will be preserved for three days or more. You then take out a jar, consume the contents within a few minutes and know it is still "fresh" in terms of enzymes and other nutrients. So, now you can make up a whole bunch of these these servings at one time and have them last for three full days.

Once you have determined whether you want cup or pint size portions (or some of both sizes), figure out how many jars you need. You can use jars you have saved from other uses, or you can purchase extra mason jars at the store:
24 pint-sized jars give eight jars full of lemonade each day to drink for 3 days, or 36 smaller jars of the 8 oz size supply the same, eight jars full to drink each day for 3 days.
You can prepare lemonade to fill all the jars you have, and then make more when you run out.
(If you like to plan ahead how many you want to have, you can find cases of mason jars for about $7.00 per 12-jar case in grocery stores such as Publix, or about $5.00 per case at a discount store such as Big Lots.)

For people who like smaller cup size portions (8 oz.), the amounts needed of each ingredient per 1 cup (8oz) or small mason jar is as follows:

To do it according to Stanley Burroughs recommendation, make up a minimum of 8 cups per day in small jars, or a maximum of 16 cups for consumption each day. If you do not know how much you will need in the beginning, start with 12 cups for each day and adjust this quantity more or less as your experience dictates.

Enhance Your Elimination on the Lemonade Diet

This is a cleanse as opposed to a weight loss program. So, you need to ensure you are eliminating the toxins that are being loosened in your system. Cravings, aches, pains, mental irritability and tiredness will turn on as your toxins are mobilized. To eliminate these unpleasant sensations, you need to be sure you have two, three, or more bowel movements a day.

Part of the Master Cleanse instructions are to drink a laxative herb tea each evening. Follow the directions on the box, and do not drink more than the recommended amount.

An additional step for cleansing, also part of the Master cleanse instructions is:
Each morning , add two teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt to a full quart of water.
Unprocessed Celtic sea salt is the best. Do not use ordinary iodized salt as it will not work properly.
Drink this salt water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. "Chug" this - drink the quart as fast as possible. Within an hour several bowel movements will likely occur. If you do not have several bowel movements, try a little more salt in the water the next day until it works.

Drink the herb laxative tea at night to loosen and the salt water each morning to wash it out.

If you can't drink the salt water in the morning, drink the herb laxative tea at night and in the morning.

Is the Lemonade Cleanse Also a Reducing Diet? ... | ... Back to The Master Cleanse Diet

Stanley Burroughs developed the lemonade juice diet as a liquid mono-diet that produces a detoxifying and cleansing effect to the body. Based on his medical observations, Burroughs saw that the lemonade diet aids the stimulation of healthy tissue growth. Burroughs' "Master Cleanse", also known as the Lemonade Diet, was originally intended as a new and more effective method to treat ulcers. A pioneer of alternative medicine, Stanley Burroughs is also known for his other classic alternative medical text, Healing for the Age of Enlightenment.

The Stanley Burroughs' Lemonade Diet is a dietary program that should be followed for at least ten days and can be performed for forty days or more. Unlike other diets, the Burroughs' Master Cleanse is not designed primarily for weight loss, but for body cleansing. Also known as the Lemonade Fast, the Lemonade Diet is recommended for individuals who are suffering from a serious medical condition. Although the Lemonade Fast is sometimes viewed with skepticism in the medical community, tens thousands of users of this treatment in the last several decades vouch for its validity.
