Why You Need It
Raw Acerola cherry is well known for its exceptional vitamin C content. The vitamin C content of one Acerola cherry is generally 65 times higher than what is found in an orange, making it equal to the minimum daily requirement. Vitamin C has been shown to possibly support a healthy immune system response and the regeneration of tissue. Acerola cherries may also be useful for supporting healthy cellular aging.*
Acerola cherry powder contains other vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, folate, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and traces of iron, copper, zinc and selenium. Vitamin A may support a healthy skin and eyesight. In addition, the potassium found in this superfood may promote healthy heart function, as well as supporting other muscles too. The folate found in acerola powder potentially supports healthy cellular growth, as well.*
Wildcrafted and organic, raw, ripe, acerola cherries are an excellent source of powerful antioxidants, carotenoids, and flavonoids. Researchers have found that the anthocyanins found in ripe acerola cherries are a major factor in their potentially strong health benefits. Anthocyanins may have the ability to support a healthy inflammation response, as well as maintaining health in other ways. Scientists continue to research this intriguing fruit.

Freeze-drying is recognized as the best drying process to preserve the nutrients in foods by using a low-temperature, low oxygen-exposure process. THe Acerola fruit is concentrated in its freeze-dried form.
There is a very small amount of silicon dioxide (2%) in the powder to reduce clumping. We consider this the lesser of two evils: most spray-dried powder is subjected to high heat during the spraying process which destroys nutrients. Vitamin C is a heat-sensitive nutrient. Also, in spray-drying, maltodextrin or whey protein isolate are often used as a matrix for the fruit powder to to reduce moisture and allow for precision particle sizing and dissolvabilty. Many fruit and vegetable powder are processed this way. By choosng freeze-drying instead, we could preserve nutrients and the larger amounts of additional ingredients which are often not on the labels.
