Why I Love Cayenne Pepper, The Spicy Herb With a Million Uses

For most of my life if there was a choice between hot, medium and mild for how spicy a dish was, I always picked mild, no question.

But about 12 years ago I started to slowly change my mind and my palate when it came to warming up to cayenne peppers.

As I got into researching and trying different natural remedies I kept coming across a laundry list of benefits for cayenne pepper.

It seemed to have a million uses, from revving up your circulation to quickly stopping bleeding from a cut!

My Favorite Ways to Use Cayenne Pepper

Since cayenne peppers are a food, including jalapenos, habaneros and scotch bonnet peppers, I cook with cayenne powder and fresh hot peppers a lot.

I’ve even gone so far as to make fresh vegetable juices and soups that included cayenne to get an energy boost and extra vitamin C.

It took me awhile to build up my tolerance to the heat from cayenne peppers. Now I crave spicy foods that are so hot they make me sweat!

There is an endorphin rush that feels good from eating super hot food. It’s similar to a runner’s high but instead it’s a chili-head high. In fact, your tolerance for cayenne is in proportion to the amount of endorphins circulating in your system. All I know is after taking cayenne pepper I always feel energized and uplifted.

Cayenne Blend Powder

One of my favorite ways to take cayenne pepper is to put a pinch of the dried powder in water to soothe my throat and give me energy throughout the day without needing to rely on caffeine. This also helps me deal with a headache, clear congestion from a cold or flu and to help relieve pain from menstrual cramps.

If I accidentally cut myself working in the kitchen, right away I would clean it, put some cayenne powder on it and cover it with a bandage. The bleeding would stop immediately and I noticed the cut seemed to close up faster and with less scarring.

As my research and experimentation with cayenne pepper continued, I read some incredible testimonials from famous herbalists like Dr. John R. Christopher about their experiences using cayenne pepper as support for the heart, especially for emergencies like a heart attack..

One of the benefits of building a tolerance to cayenne pepper is so you can easily take 4-10 droppersful needed to help stop a heart attack while on the way to the hospital.

See the end of this article for a quick and easy way to build up your tolerance to cayenne pepper.

There is an interesting article about cayenne pepper helping to stop a heart attack in 60 seconds from Natural News you can read here: Cayenne Pepper – Stop a heart attack fast

The article quotes Dr. Christopher on his success with cayenne pepper. Dr. Christopher says, “In 35 years of practice, and working with the people and teaching, I have never on house calls lost one heart attack patient and the reason is, whenever I go in–if they are still breathing – I pour a cup of cayenne tea down them (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water), and within minutes they are up and around.”

The owners of Southern Botanicals have also shared their own true story of a friend using cayenne for relief while on his way to the hospital from a heart attack!

True Story from the Owners of Southern Botanicals

Stuart, a very good friend of mine, had mild diabetes, the kind that can be improved with a good diet and exercise. He had started on a nutritional program and was really working on it. But early into that program when he was only in his forties, he had a heart attack. He went to the emergency room and had a blockage removed and a stent (tube) inserted into an artery. He went home the next day, but was then very cautious, because of course he hadn’t seen the attack coming, and he wanted to avoid another one. Suddenly, the future looked very different for him, and even a bit scary.

Buy Cayenne Concentrate

Right away, Stuart got in touch with Ron Radstrom here at Southern Botanicals for advice. The answer was: Start immediately taking drops of cayenne and gradually build up with more drops everyday to strengthen his circulation. And that’s what Stuart did over the next couple of weeks. However, unfortunately one night, he felt symptoms of another heart attack coming on. But this time, he was prepared!

Stuart got his wife to run and get ready to take him to the hospital. He then immediately squirted four droppersful of Cayenne under his tongue, and a few minutes later when his wife came to get him to go to the emergency room, he was sitting on the couch with a big grin on his face. He told her the heart attack had STOPPED! All signs and symptoms vanished and never returned.

Stuart has not had a heart attack since, and that was over six years ago.

What a wonderful success story, and we still have Stuart around, our friend, and that’s a nice outcome.”

How to Easily Build Your Tolerance for Cayenne’s Heat

  • Start with one drop of Cayenne Concentrate Tincture or a small pinch of Cayenne Powder 3 times a day in an ounce of water.
  • Once you’re at to the point you can’t detect heat from the cayenne in the water, take one drop of Cayenne Concentrate or a small pinch of Cayenne Powder and hold it under your tongue for a minute to telegraph information from the herb to your body then swallow.
  • Keep taking a small amount of cayenne pepper under your tongue 3 times a day for a week then build up from there.
  • By the way, taking cayenne under the tongue is less hot than on the tongue.
  • The goal: when you can tolerate up to 6 drops under your tongue it does not get any hotter but more drops makes the heat last longer.
  • If you’re at the point where you can take 6 drops, you’re past the point where it will feel hotter!
